Support Children

6 Quick Tools to Quickly Help Kids do Well at School

Resources for Parents

There are several ways you can help your child who has experienced Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) or trauma. Below, you'll find resources and proven methods for supporting children who have been through trauma. It's important to remember that one of the best ways to support your child is to  make sure you're in a  healthy emotional state yourself. Just like  an airplane emergency, adults should secure their  oxygen mask before assisting children.  Parents and other adults need to be emotionally stable to effectively help  children. Additionally, many of the activities you do to take care of yourself can also benefit your child, and you can even do them together. Have you and your family tried any activities from the Stress Busters Wheel?

Helping Your Child Regulate

Emotional regulation is an essential skill for children to develop, as it forms the foundation for their mental and emotional well-being. When children are unable to regulate their emotions effectively, it can lead to a range of challenges, including difficulty in managing stress, building healthy relationships, and coping with daily life.

Through simple yet impactful activities and techniques, such as mindfulness exercises, deep breathing techniques, and creative expression, children can  identify and manage their feelings in healthy ways. These activities not only help children cope with immediate emotional challenges but also equip them with lifelong skills for resilience and self-care. Explore the links below for a variety of activities designed to support children in developing their emotional regulation skills.
